Some Drums is a collection of 352 percussive samples, 59 noise- & drone-sounds and 5 Ableton Drum Racks. All sounds were made from analog sources, processed, mangled and recorded in stereo to 1/4“ tape and then re-recorded at 96KHz/24Bit with a RME Fireface UFX 2 interface.

To be precise, the Sound Pack features:

159 Kicks
50 Snares
23 Hats
25 Shakers
56 Toms
22 Pings
17 Misc Percussions

30 Lofi Chord-Drones (15 in major, 15 in minor)
18 Bass-Drones
11 Noise Layers

5 Ableton Drum Racks (Requires Ableton Live 11.3 and upwards)

Please don’t take the drum categories too literally. These are simply percussive sounds that I think are cool and useful for all kinds of music genres. They go from gnarly to deep, from dusty to warm. And I like to think they all have a certain smoothness to them.

All tonal sounds like Kicks, Toms and Pings, are already tuned to C or G, so you can easily make them match the key of your tracks.

On top of that, Some Drums includes noise layers, lofi chord-drones and bass-drones.

Similar to my previous pack named Sonic Beds, you can think of those drones as oscillators with character. Just put them in a sampler, activate looping and adjust the parameters to create lush synth or bass sounds. Together with the percussive sounds, they build a vast and flexible beat making toolkit.

All sounds work in any sampler. From hardware to software. Just throw them into your favorite instrument and make them your own.

To get you started, Some Drums contains 5 Ableton Drum Racks where I combined sounds to kits, mapped important controls to macros and tuned them to various keys. They work in the standard version of Live 11.3 and upwards.

In the racks, you can easily change the mood of individual samples, adjust the pitch or process the entire rack with the macros. Of course you can also swap out samples and just use the racks as a foundation for your own kits.

Whether you use the individual sounds in your favorite samplers, or vibe with the Ableton racks - I hope you will enjoy making music with Some Drums. Thank you!
